| • | 75% of students who use drugs say they began by age 14 *** |
| • | 43% of middle and high school students use alcohol, 20% also use marijuana and 6% use cocaine *** |
| • | 247,000 Florida children are currently affected by substance abuse and need treatment *** |
| • | In 1997-98 approximately 42,000 of these children receives services ** |
| • | Drug prevention treatment is available to just 20% of those who need it ** |
